What Tajweed actually means
Tajweed is not decoration. It is the set of rules that preserve the Quran exactly as it was revealed and recited, governing where to elongate, where to stop, and how each letter is formed in the mouth. Reciting without it changes sounds, and sometimes meaning.
Many adults reach us able to read Arabic fluently but having never been formally taught these rules. That is extremely common and nothing to feel embarrassed about. It is also very fixable.
Learning by correction, not memorisation
Tajweed rules are simple to state and difficult to apply. Knowing that a madd is elongated for a set number of counts is easy; doing it consistently while reading an unfamiliar page is another matter entirely.
This is why our classes are built around live recitation with immediate correction. You recite, your tutor listens, and errors are caught in the moment, before they harden into habits. Each rule is introduced, practised in isolation, then applied to real passages until it becomes automatic.
Structure of the course
We work through the Quran systematically, usually beginning with the shorter chapters of Juz Amma, where verses are brief and rules are easy to isolate. As confidence grows, we move to longer passages.
Students who want to go further can continue into Quran memorisation or translation and Tafsir.
